Dr. Wei Lan is a Consultant Pain Specialist.  Until recently, Dr. Lan worked as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Pain Specialist at Cork University Hospital, Mallow General Hospital & South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital. 

Dr. Lan works in the same private clinic location in Cork (Suite 1.9, Consultants Private Clinic, Bishopstown, Cork.) and his new pain clinics at UPMC Whitfield, Waterford and Aut Even Hospital, Kilkenny.   

 

Dr. Lan now is accepting pain management referrals at UPMC Whitfield and Aut Even Hospitals.  

Dr. Lan has weekly pain procedure lists at both UPMC Whitfield Hospital and Aut Even Hospital, all the procedures are performed safely in the operating theatre.

Dr. Wei Lan is an UCC MD graduate. 

 

Dr. Lan completed his medical training and higher specialist training in Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine in Ireland, he passed the postgraduate professional exams of the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (FCARCSI) in 2014. 

 

During his anaesthetic training, Dr. Lan developed strong interests in pain medicine.  Dr. Wei Lan has extended his pain training with two fellowships in pain medicine in King’s College Hospital, London and The Royal London Hospital, London.  He gained valuable and world class specialised training in Pain Medicine. 

 

Dr. Wei Lan completed his World Institute of Pain (WIP) Fellowship exams in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) in the U.S. and Faculty of Pain Medicine Fellowship Royal College of Anaesthetists Exams (FFPMRCA) in the U.K..

 

Dr. Wei Lan has a wide range of experience in cancer pain, non-cancer pain, interventional procedures for acute and chronic pain conditions, including neuromodulation. His specialist interests are mainly Interventional and multidisciplinary treatment of chronic pain.   Dr. Lan is an expert in diagnosing the source and mechanism of pain.  This often leads to the best treatment outcomes. 

He believes appropriate medication and intervention can give good relief to many patients with chronic pain. Particularly when combined with pain management which includes physiotherapy/exercise and psychological therapy.
