Dr. Wei Lan is a Consultant Pain Specialist with extensive experience in helping patients manage both acute and chronic pain. He is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care, with a focus on understanding each individual’s condition and improving their quality of life.

 

He has worked as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Pain Specialist in several major hospitals in Ireland, including University Hospital Limerick, Cork University Hospital, Mallow General Hospital, and South Infirmary–Victoria University Hospital.

Dr. Lan now sees patients at his private clinic in Cork, as well as at UPMC Whitfield Hospital in Waterford and Aut Even Hospital in Kilkenny. He welcomes referrals and offers a wide range of treatments tailored to each individual’s needs.

He focuses on providing safe, effective care and regularly performs procedures in fully equipped hospital settings. With specialist training in anaesthesiology, intensive care, and pain medicine, Dr. Lan aims to support patients in finding relief and improving their quality of life.

Dr. Wei Lan is an UCC MD graduate. 

 

Dr. Lan completed his medical training and higher specialist training in Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine in Ireland, he passed the postgraduate professional exams of the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (FCARCSI) in 2014.

Dr. Lan completed his specialist training in Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care, and Pain Medicine in Ireland. During his training, he developed a strong interest in pain management and went on to complete advanced fellowships in pain medicine at leading centres, including King’s College Hospital and The Royal London Hospital in the UK. These experiences have provided him with a high level of expertise in modern pain management techniques.

He also holds internationally recognised qualifications in interventional pain medicine, including fellowships from the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland, the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (UK), and the World Institute of Pain.

 

Dr. Lan has broad experience in treating a wide range of pain conditions, including back and neck pain, nerve pain, cancer-related pain, and complex chronic pain conditions. He has particular expertise in interventional pain procedures and advanced treatments such as radiofrequency and Platelet-Rich Plasma.

His approach to care is thorough and holistic. He takes time to listen to each patient’s story, carefully assess the underlying cause of their pain, and develop a personalised treatment plan. This may include a combination of medication, targeted procedures, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists or psychologists.

Dr. Lan strongly believes that effective pain management often involves a multidisciplinary approach. He supports patients not only with medical treatments, but also with guidance on exercise, lifestyle, and overall wellbeing, helping them play an active role in their recovery.

His goal is to ensure that every patient feels heard, informed, and supported, while working towards meaningful, long-term improvement in pain and daily function.
